First Meetings in English

What are some good questions to ask when you first meet someone from a foreign country, in Japan or abroad? Imagine that you are at a business meeting in Japan (or a foreign country), and you must introduce yourself to some new people and make a conversation with them. What questions would you ask? What topics should you avoid?

  1. When I first meet someone from a foreign country in a business meeting, I would say “Hello, I’m Toru Sasahara, 〇〇company’s staff. May I have your name?”. Perhaps I will meet them again in the future, so I need to remember their name.
    I think ‘name’,’their company’ are good questions. But I think we should avoid these topics ;
    ‘birthplace’,’family’,’age’ etc.
    The reason why we should avoid these topics is they don’t need in business.
